Wanted Not So Hot or Germy Nanny

July 11, 2008 08:58 by Big Momma

I am somewhere between month 6 and 7, I never can keep up with the weeks, and we need to start planning our child care options. I'll be returning back to work fulltime when the baby is 5 months old (thanks boss man for the great maternity leave). I've heard that daycare centers are a 10-12 month wait list. That makes no sense, taking maternity leave into account, you'd have to get your name on the list when you are still two or three months pregnant. I am realizing this baby thing is a racket.

Though I know some friends and family have been very happy with their daycares, I have some concerns...mainly that my husband is a germ-a-phob. So much so that he asked me a couple weeks ago if swimming in the lake with Murph the Wonder Dog was safe for me, as he feared I may contract some water-borne disease and harm the baby. So you can see, I'm not sure how well he'll do with the increased exposure to germs at a daycare. And watch out when our kid gets his first bite in the toddler room...hubby may teach our tike to fight back Tyson style leaving the biter with half an ear.

So...I am thinking perhaps we should look into the feasibility of a nanny to control the germ/snot nose factor and keep our family out of personal liability lawsuits. I selfishly worry that my baby will form a mommy bond with the nanny while I am working my way up and around the bowels of middle management in a Fortune 50 company. Of course my real concern is the hot nanny factor, I wonder if Mrs. Doubtfire has a sister... My mom has offered to "rework" her schedule to spend as much time with us as possible, living with us and taking care of the baby...I guess a hot nanny or a germy kid isn't so bad afterall.
